Governor Signed HB2243 to Reinstate AOT's Formula Funding

A proposal by the Arizona House of Representatives was passed and signed by the Governor on Friday, April 23 that restores some lost funding to the Arizona Office of Tourism. House Bill 2243, sponsored by Rep. Michele Reagan, R-Scottsdale stated that the AOT formula funding be restored after a two-year suspension.

For the 2011 and 2012 fiscal years, AOT will received funding from Proposition 202 (Indian Gaming) and Proposition 302 (Maricopa County funding) dollars. While Prop 302 is funded solely by Maricopa County and the distribution of those dollars statewide misinterprets the spirit of that original legislation, the industry partners are once again working together to create solutions that benefit the greater good for our entire industry.
