Arizona One of Top States for Travel This Year

In the battle for domestic travel dollars over the next year, the Ypartnership/Yankelovich 2009 National Travel Monitor finds that the West is likely to win, with the South not far behind.

When asked about the interest in visiting specific regions across the country during the next two years, more than seven in 10 leisure travelers said they would like to visit the Western regions of the United States followed by the South with 62 percent, the Northeast with 33 percent and the Midwest with 21 percent.

Florida reigns as the dream destination for American leisure travelers, with one-third mentioning the state as the destination they would like to visit most during the next two years. California follows at 30 percent, then Arizona and Hawaii, both at 16 percent.
