Governor Brewer to Present Awards at Arizona Governor’s Conference on Tourism

This year’s Governor’s Conference on Tourism, to be held July 8 – 10 at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, is packed with dynamic speakers and cutting-edge breakout sessions. Attendees can count on an impressive “STAR (Special Tribue and Recognition) Gala,” “Taste of Arizona Cuisine Reception” and the unveiling of the Arizona Office of Tourism’s marketing campaign, presented at the Awards Luncheon. Chairman of the Board Greg Gilstrap commented, “We’re thrilled to announce that Governor Jan Brewer, who has an impressive tourism support track record, has been confirmed to present the awards this year for the luncheon.“

These distinguished awards honor individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the tourism industry during the past year. The Arizona Office of Tourism is still accepting awards submissions for these awards. The deadline for submitting a nomination is Friday, June 5. For submission guidelines and categories, visit www.aztourismconference.com or contact Kiva Couchon at kcouchon@azot.gov.

In addition, for the first time ever, the Arizona Office of Tourism will be offering scholarships to tourism professionals to attend this year’s conference. These scholarships will cover the cost of registration and awarded on a first-served basis. For more information, click here.

About the Governor’s Conference on Tourism:

Each year, four of Arizona’s major industry organizations come together to bring you the Governor’s Conference on Tourism. The Governor's Conference is Arizona's only industry educational and networking conference for all members of the hospitality, travel and tourism industry. Attendees will take home practical ideas from the industry's top experts, hear the latest in hospitality and tourism trends, network with more than 500 fellow professionals and learn about products and services from exhibiting sponsors. This is the conference where you're free to be inspired.

Given current economic conditions, many argue there has never been a more crucial time for tourism leaders to get together to cooperatively plan ways to “compete and win” in today’s challenging times.

Register today and don’t miss this must attend event. Registration and conference details can be found at www.aztourismconference.com or by calling 602.265.2252.

The Westin Kierland has put together great “staycation” rates for conference attendees, encouraging individuals to stay at the property and even bring friends and family along. To book your Westin Kierland stay, please go to http://www.kierlandresort.com/golf_spa/index.html or call 800.354.5892.
